Ask the Alliance: Is Jesus a copycat myth?

December 7, 2013 by CAA Guests and Features

:::Ask the Alliance Question #6:::

question-mark-300x199Question submitted by Richard: I am a senior at Liberty University. I am definitely a firm believer in the fact that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the grave. I know that he is Jesus Christ, the Son of God. I have a question. I watched this video on youtube called Real Proof that Jesus was NOT real. I don’t believe it, but I would like some answers from someone whose profession is in apologetics. Is this video legitimate? What’s the ultimate truth behind Christianity and Jesus being the ONLY Son of God?

Richard, here are some responses from The Christian Apologetics Alliance:

Roger Goforth offers a blog post he wrote recently, Finding the Historical Jesus.

loldaddy-com-1339110548Robert Oram urges you to look up Dr. Mark Foreman, “professor of philosophy & religion at Liberty University, who actually knows what he’s talking about…unlike the producer of ‘Zeitgeist’…! Here is his video, Refuting Zeitgeist the Movie (Dr. Mark Foreman). Richard, also make use of the providence that Foreman actually teaches at your own university! How cool is that! Go and chat to him brother!”

Comte de Wilton shared MaryJo Sharp’s interview with the One Minute Apologist, 182. Is The Story Of Jesus Just Like Horus?

Richard, the alliance member putting this post together for you actually encountered this question in a philosophy class recently. I copied the relevant parts from Devastating Arguments Against Christianity (Courtesy the Internet), posted at Well Spent Journey. I pasted them into a Word doc, along with the meme on the right that is also found in the blog post from Well Spent Journey. I printed that out and gave it to my fellow student. Very handy!

Thanks for asking! 🙂

Christian Apologetics Alliance is a Top 100 Christian Blog

Unity Statement

In essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, in all things charity. The Christian Apologetics Alliance (CAA) is united in our Statement of Faith. The CAA does not, as an organization, have positions on many of the doctrinal or theological debates that take place within the church. Our primary concern is to promote the gracious, rational defense of the central claims of Christianity and the critique of opposing systems of thought. The CAA joyfully welcomes Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and diverse Protestant believers, and we are committed to treating all these traditions with respect in our community.
