Dialogue with a gay activist

February 5, 2013 by Paul Buller

The dialogue recorded at this link is a fabulous example of doing many things right in a conversation with somebody you disagree with. Peter Kreeft was taking a class that was being taught by a homosexual activist. Kreeft hoped to chat with his professor (whom he calls "Art") about his views, striving to open and clarify their respective views on the subject. Kreeft is right to … [Read more...]

The War of the Worldviews (Pt.2)

February 5, 2013 by Nelis Ebersohn and Jason Dennett

Can you explain the differences between Christianity and the 6 other major Worldviews? Part 1 (pt.2 of 3) This is part 2 in our video class on foundational Christian Apologetics, entitled "The War of the Worldviews." Here I begin to cover what a worldview is, what the seven major worldviews are, and how each of them compares to Christian Theism in terms of their logical … [Read more...]

Equality

February 3, 2013 by Stephen McAndrew

The race is not to the swift or the battle to the strong, nor does food come to the wise or wealth to the brilliant or favor to the learned; but time and chance happen to them all. – Ecclesiastes 9:11. We are told as children that everyone should be treated equally. Stories of those who fought to make things equal are celebrated. It is apparent to even the youngest school child … [Read more...]

If You Believe Atheism Is True, Then Atheism Is False

February 3, 2013 by Tom Gilson

Alex Rosenberg, the atheistic philosopher, ended his recent debate with William Lane Craig by admitting he believes that no thoughts are about anything. He meant exactly that. No thought is about anything. This may come as rather a shock to some readers. It's strange. It's really strange. One consequence of it (if Rosenberg is right) is that if you believe atheism is true, … [Read more...]

Book Review: "The Myth of Religious Violence" by William Cavanaugh

February 3, 2013 by J.w. Wartick

William T. Cavanaugh's The Myth of Religious Violence (hereafter MRV) examines the oft-perpetuated notion that religion causes violence. Cavanaugh levels an attack against this notion that comes in two primary directions: 1) He argues that "ideologies and institutions labeled 'secular' can be just as violent as those labeled 'religious'"; 2) He argues that the "twin categories … [Read more...]

Why I Raise My Children With God

February 2, 2013 by Robin Schumacher

CNN’s iReport recently carried a blog post entitled “Why I Raise My Children Without God” (which CNN says is the 2nd highest viewed post ever on their iReport site) by an atheist Texas blogger named TXBlue08. Her blog site, “Kids Without Religion,” is all about “raising kids as independent, logical thinkers”. In her post, she put forth seven reasons why she’s decided to bring … [Read more...]

The Problem of Blind Faith

February 2, 2013 by Carson Weitnauer

In talking with skeptical students around Boston, I have learned that few things drive them as crazy as Christians with a blind faith. They are perplexed: "How can your core convictions be completely divorced from reason and logic?" Three examples, just from the past year, illustrate the problem: … [Read more...]

Do we need to teach apologetics in church?

February 1, 2013 by CAA Guests and Features

By Brad Cooper.  "Do we need to teach apologetics in the church?"  Asking this question is like asking: *Do we need to obey the commands of Scripture? *Are we obligated to follow the example of Christ? *Should we follow the example of the apostles and other New Testament leaders? *Do we need the Bible? If we are Christians, the obvious answer to all of these is an emphatic … [Read more...]

A Different Argument from Morality

February 1, 2013 by Maryann Spikes

The Moral Argument I don’t like the traditional version of this argument that argues from the moral law to a moral law-giver: Traditional Argument from Morality Premise 1:  There is an objective moral law. Premise 2:  Every law implies a law-giver. Conclusion:  Therefore, there is a moral law-giver. The most important problem with this argument is, if God is not just making … [Read more...]

God's Grace and Apologetics

January 31, 2013 by Carson Weitnauer

The Christian Apologetics Alliance has featured an incredible diversity of posts this month on "Becoming A Community Apologist." Let's review the terrific posts we've had and then consider: in light of God's grace, how might you steadily grow as an apologist? In particular, I want to talk with you about feeling overwhelmed. When we feel overwhelmed, how does God's grace speak … [Read more...]

Christian Apologetics Alliance is a Top 100 Christian Blog

Unity Statement

In essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, in all things charity. The Christian Apologetics Alliance (CAA) is united in our Statement of Faith. The CAA does not, as an organization, have positions on many of the doctrinal or theological debates that take place within the church. Our primary concern is to promote the gracious, rational defense of the central claims of Christianity and the critique of opposing systems of thought. The CAA joyfully welcomes Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and diverse Protestant believers, and we are committed to treating all these traditions with respect in our community.
