Why do you call me good?

April 12, 2013 by Paul Rezkalla

In the Gospels, a rich, young man approached Jesus and said to him, "Good teacher, what must I do to inherit eternal life?" Jesus gave the infamous reply, "Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone." This story is found in Matthew, Mark, and Luke; critics of Jesus' claims to deity often use it as ammunition in their case for a non-divine Jesus. It seems, they … [Read more...]

The Promissory Metaphysics of Thomas Nagel: A Review of Mind and Cosmos

April 11, 2013 by Ken Mann

A review of Mind and Cosmos: Why the Materialist Neo-Darwinian Conception of Nature Is Almost Certainly False by Thomas Nagel I didn’t expect to write this review. In fact, I didn’t know when I would get around to reading this book. When a book is reviewed by the likes of William Dembski and Alvin Plantinga, what could a poor schlub like myself have to offer? Possibly not … [Read more...]

Filling In The Gaps

April 10, 2013 by Luke Nix

Many skeptics of theism accuse theists of "god-of-the-gaps" argumentation when it comes to providing evidence for God's existence. Many theists claim that naturalists are guilty of using a "naturalism-of-the-gaps" argumentation to explain away evidence for God's existence. Others prefer to remain agnostic and simply, "I don't know, one way or the other." Yet, still others will … [Read more...]

Speaking the Truth in Love

April 8, 2013 by Mikel Del Rosario

William Lane Craig was my teacher This was while I was doing my graduate work at Biola University. In this post, I’ll share an important lesson I learned from William Lane Craig about speaking the truth in love. I remember how he began our “Philosophical Issues for Apologists” course by saying he often signs his books with 2 Corinthians 10:5 as a subscript: We demolish … [Read more...]

That pesky sense of oughtness

April 8, 2013 by Mark McIntyre

Science has done an admirable job of exploring and describing the processes and functions of the things I see around me. I am not an astrophysicist but because of advances in science, it is possible for me to know more about the composition and operation of stars than the best scientist of several hundred years ago. We have made tremendous progress in our understanding of the … [Read more...]

Convince Me There’s A God – Morality

April 7, 2013 by Mark McGee

As an atheist I cared little for "morality." In fact, how others saw morality was often something I had to overcome to get what I wanted in life. So, when Christians who talked with me about the existence of God brought up the "law of morality," it wasn't something I was interested in discussing - at first. … [Read more...]

Two of the World's Leading Experts on Bacterial Flagellar Assembly Take on Michael Behe

April 6, 2013 by Jonathan McLatchie

I've been reading the recently published book Microbes and Evolution: The World that Darwin Never Saw, which combines my two primary areas of interest: microbiology and evolution. Chapter 38 of the book is written by Kelly Hughes and David Blair of the University of Utah, two of the world's leading experts on bacterial flagellar assembly. Having followed the work of Kelly … [Read more...]

Science Killed The Christian God? – Part 1

April 5, 2013 by Nelis Ebersohn and Jason Dennett

(pt.1) Is Richard Dawkins right in saying that science is the only real discipline that can give us reliable knowledge about reality?  Has modern science buried the concept of the Judeo-Christian God?  Many atheists and naturalists would respond with a resounding "YES!" This is an all important question to answer in today's rising culture of "Scientism," which states that if a … [Read more...]

Good

April 4, 2013 by Stephen McAndrew

“Am I a good person?” This is the great question facing all of us. We want to be good. We feel that if we do good deeds our lives will have meaning. We want to add up all of our good deeds and measure these against the sum of our bad deeds and hope that the scale comes out in favor of finding our lives good or justified. This is not solely a religious phenomenon. Secularists … [Read more...]

Christian Apologetics Alliance is a Top 100 Christian Blog

Unity Statement

In essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, in all things charity. The Christian Apologetics Alliance (CAA) is united in our Statement of Faith. The CAA does not, as an organization, have positions on many of the doctrinal or theological debates that take place within the church. Our primary concern is to promote the gracious, rational defense of the central claims of Christianity and the critique of opposing systems of thought. The CAA joyfully welcomes Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and diverse Protestant believers, and we are committed to treating all these traditions with respect in our community.
