The Titanic: reality, legend, and the use of parallels.

November 12, 2012 by Steve Wilkinson

It is a dark, cold April night in the icy waters of the North Atlantic. The world’s largest luxury liner is on a voyage between the New York and England. Because it is thought to be ‘unsinkable’ (due to its watertight compartments) it is travailing at a speed in excess of 22 knots and is only carrying lifeboats for less than half its capacity of 3000 (as few as regulations … [Read more...]

Archangel: Jesus of Jehovah’s Witnesses

November 12, 2012 by Prayson Daniel

Jehovah’s Witnesses are taught that Jesus is archangel Michael (Jude 9) since He speaks “with the voice of archangel”. Watchtower’s “Aid To Bible Understanding? ” claimed: Scriptural evidence indicates that the name Michael applied to God's Son before he left heaven to become Jesus Christ and also after his return. Michael is the only one said to be the "archangel” […] At 1 … [Read more...]

Review: Shattered: Struck Down, But Not Destroyed by Frank Pastore

November 12, 2012 by Letitia Wong

Shattered: Struck Down, But Not Destroyed is an autobiographical sketch of Frank Pastore’s (Frank) spiritual journey from childhood to the present day, from atheism to faith in Jesus Christ. Raised by an abusive and stalwartly atheist mother, Frank tells the story of her early impact on his views on faith and Christianity. From youth into adulthood as a professional baseball … [Read more...]

Literary Apologetics Reading List: Mystery Novels

November 12, 2012 by Holly Ordway

Mystery novels, taken as a whole, reflect at a deep level the truth of the Christian worldview. And yes, I mean mystery novels in general, not “mystery novels by Christian writers.” Here’s why. … [Read more...]

Reason #4 Christianity is Unique: It is Receivable

November 12, 2012 by Nelis Ebersohn and Jason Dennett

Why doesn't Christianity have rules and regulations in order to "earn salvation"?  (part 4 of 5) In this short video, we address one of the starkest contrasts between the Christian faith when compared with the 25 major world religions: forgiveness is not earned but received.  Whether it is believed to be true or not, this major difference alone merits the investigation of any … [Read more...]

Is Giving Thanks The Product of Design?

November 10, 2012 by Luke Nix

Thanksgiving is another holiday (see my previous post about Halloween) that I see has lost a lot of its meaning in American society. I remember being taught that Thanksgiving was a time to stop and thank God for everything that he has bestowed upon us (be it material goods, health, understanding or anything- even suffering). It seems quite difficult to do such a thing when … [Read more...]

Love Wins Critique (Part 2)

November 9, 2012 by Darren Rodrigues

This is part 2 in a series of blogs regarding Bell's recent book, Love Wins, where I summarize his view in the book and evaluate whether he advocates universalism. Part #1 What is Bell’s View in Love Wins? Bell begins the book claiming that many have hijacked the story of Jesus and that is now time to reclaim it (p. vii-viii).  It is later clear that he means those who hold … [Read more...]

Fallacy Friday: Ad Misericordiam (Appeal to Pity)

November 9, 2012 by Matt and Madeleine Flannagan

This week I will look at the ad misericordiam fallacy, the fallacy of appealing to pity. Perhaps the best example I have come across is one used by my friend Francis Beckwith; In his book Politically Correct Death: Answering Arguments for Abortion Rights, Beckwith cites the following letter to the editor: The fallacy in this letter is not difficult to spot; it is an argument … [Read more...]

Three Essential Elements of Everyday Apologetics

November 8, 2012 by Mikel Del Rosario

Are you new to Apologetics? Here are three things every Christian should do with the apologetics information they learn from conferences, podcasts, books and other training resources. In my presentations and workshops, I like to call these the three essential elements of everyday apologetics. 1. Find answers for yourself First, know that Apologetics is for you. It helps you, … [Read more...]

Christian Apologetics Alliance is a Top 100 Christian Blog

Unity Statement

In essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, in all things charity. The Christian Apologetics Alliance (CAA) is united in our Statement of Faith. The CAA does not, as an organization, have positions on many of the doctrinal or theological debates that take place within the church. Our primary concern is to promote the gracious, rational defense of the central claims of Christianity and the critique of opposing systems of thought. The CAA joyfully welcomes Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and diverse Protestant believers, and we are committed to treating all these traditions with respect in our community.
