HBO's True Detective: Touching the Darkness

July 16, 2014 by Anthony Weber

"Matthew Coniglio's Georgia home held a trove of child pornography, more than 50,000 images and videos stored on laptops, external hard drives and thumb drives. Among the stash, hidden in a bedside table turned around to conceal the doors, authorities made an even more horrifying discovery: 56 8-millimeter cassette tapes they say show him raping and molesting girls. All were … [Read more...]

Why Does Opposition to Apologetics Come From Mostly Within the Church?

July 12, 2014 by Eric Chabot

Apologetics is a branch of Christian theology that helps give reasons for the truthfulness of the Christian faith/worldview. The word “Apologia” means “to give reasons, make a legal defense” (Acts 26:2; 2 Tim. 4:16; 1 Pet 3:15). The apostles approach to spreading the message of the Gospel is characterized by such terms as “apologeomai/apologia” which means “to give reasons, … [Read more...]

Creatures Point to Christ

July 2, 2014 by Steven Dunn

Death always seems to be a negative or morbid subject. Whatever connotation it may have, the only thing significant about it is that it is real - i.e., we are going to die one day. As Blaise Pascal put it into words: "When I consider the short duration of my life, swallowed up in the eternity before and after, the little space which I fill. . .  I am frightened, and shocked at … [Read more...]

Days of Future Past: Do Our Choices Matter?

June 16, 2014 by Anthony Weber

“So many battles waged over the years... and yet, none like this. Are we destined to destroy each other, or can we change each other and unite? Is the future truly set?” – Charles Xavier X-Men: Days of Future Past is a story about free will and human nature. It’s many other things as well – an excellently crafted movie, an equal rights parable, a commentary on human atrocities, … [Read more...]

#EndFathersDay: Where the Twitter Trend Gets Fathers Wrong

June 13, 2014 by Steven Dunn

With the arrival of Father’s Day this Sunday, Twitter has unleashed a new hashtag that has primarily to do with the disgust of male patriarchy and the lack of consideration for single mothers and/or same-sex couples on this day. The hashtag? “#EndFathersDay.” According to one tweet, “#EndFathersDay because it’s a slap in the face to single mothers everywhere.” Although there is … [Read more...]

A Look at Acts 17: Can Apologists Follow Paul’s Example in Today’s Culture

June 12, 2014 by Eric Chabot

When it comes to apologetics, Acts 17 has always been one of my favorite chapters of the Bible. I have used it in the attempt to motivate others to learn about apologetics which is the rational defense of the Christian faith. The question at hand is whether the culture is the same today as it was in Paul’s day. Also, does Paul’s approach work for Christians today? First, a … [Read more...]

The Problem with Nazareth

May 1, 2014 by Zak Schmoll

We just got over the hysteria of the release of Noah, and now it appears that there is a controversial television series on the way. According to this article from the Christian Post, FOX is preparing to release a series entitled Nazareth. I understand that some people thought that Noah was a great conversation starter while others were irritated by it, but I am sincerely … [Read more...]

Does the Mosaic Law Apply to Christians?

March 9, 2014 by Darren Rodrigues

Approximately thirty-five hundred years ago, God gave Moses the Ten Commandments on Mt. Sinai and soon after, other commandments followed.  These together formed what is called the Mosaic Law.  It consisted of six hundred and thirteen laws (or commandments) that were both positive (“you should”) and negative (“you should not”) and are contained in the first five books of the … [Read more...]

Ask the Alliance: Does God permit torture?

March 7, 2014 by CAA Guests and Features

:::Ask the Alliance #9::: Does God permit torture? Question submitted by Jason: Is there any circumstance under which God would approve of torturing a person, such as if a terrorist is being interrogated? Jason, thank you for your question. Here are some responses from The Christian Apologetics Alliance: Damoksa writes: This is not an easy question - and hence I suspect … [Read more...]

Why Does God Allow Disabilities?

March 1, 2014 by Zak Schmoll

As we are striving towards a common goal of expressing the reason for the hope that we have, we can come in contact with the seemingly cold nature of reality. Sometimes, it seems like there are things wrong with the world that are extraordinarily hard to reconcile with the nature of God who loves all humanity. I have heard this said about living with a variety of disabilities. … [Read more...]

Christian Apologetics Alliance is a Top 100 Christian Blog

Unity Statement

In essentials unity, in nonessentials liberty, in all things charity. The Christian Apologetics Alliance (CAA) is united in our Statement of Faith. The CAA does not, as an organization, have positions on many of the doctrinal or theological debates that take place within the church. Our primary concern is to promote the gracious, rational defense of the central claims of Christianity and the critique of opposing systems of thought. The CAA joyfully welcomes Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and diverse Protestant believers, and we are committed to treating all these traditions with respect in our community.
